Mycenae

This is a Mycenaean tomb, nicknamed the "beehive tomb" due to its shape. Although it has not been confirmed, it is said to be the burial place of Atreus, the father of the mythological figure Agamemnon. The beehive shape of this tomb is the closest that the ancient Greeks got to perfecting the arc which was later accomplished by the Romans. Also notice the relieving triangle that is above the doorway, it helps relieve the weight of the structure on the opening by shifting the weight of the roof from the center of the doorway to the outside and walls of the wall.

It was too dark inside the tomb to take a picture, but it is a now empty room since archeologists have excavated it. The coolest thing about this tomb is the fact that if you put your ear to the wall and someone else is on the other side and speaks into the wall, you can actually hear them through it! Im not sure how that works but its really cool!
