Olympia

This is what remains of the gymnasium that the original olympic athletes trained in. The performance of a Pan-Hellenic athletic competition such as the Olympic games displays the agonistic aka competitive spirit that all Greeks had. The exact reason for the founding of the games is unknown, although scholars believe it could have been a way to show off for the gods.


Obviously the training stadiums of the olympic athletes have been upgraded since then, but I still think the original is the coolest! When you are standing int he middle of this, it is easy to imagine the first olympic athletes training and practicing here.
